The Lokoja / Ajaokuta arm of the Nigeria Institute of Management, on Monday, marked the body’s 60th Anniversary with a visit to the Ministry of Mercy Orphanage Home in Lokoja where it made generous donations.

Speaking during the visit, its Chairman, Mr Ibraheem Adams said the visit was part of activities to mark the day, noting that it was also meant to appreciate the Godly works being carried by propritor and the caregivers in the home.

He noted that similar visitations were also carried out by chapters across the states of the geopolitical zone and the entire State, noting it was also a way they showed care to the needy in tandem with the objectives of the institute.

According to him, abandoned and orphaned children deserved all the cares they could get in order not to become easy preys for dangerous elements in the society, hence the decision to appreciate people engaging in caring for those who have the potential of changing the society for the better.

Mr Adams who promised to keep in touch with the home in view of the good works of the proprietor, called on spirited individuals and others with means to support the home by making generous donations regularly so as to contribute positively to the lives of the orphans.

Responding, the proprietor of the home, Mr Samson Aliu who was overwhelmed with joy, expressed gratitude to the NIM, noting that it takes only the Godly to be compassionate towards the needs of the downtrodden and vulnerable members of the society.

Mr Aliyu who went down memory lane to inform his guests of the origin of the home said it began at a remote countryside, Otutulu in Dekina Local Government Area where they cared for the less privileged and that due to some difficulties in accessing the village, they decided to move more centrally to the state capital.

He said what the body had done would go a long way in easing the works of the orphanage, stressing that it had continued to cater for abandoned babies and other vulnerable children in order to raise the next generation for the society.

Highlights of the occasion was a song session, a meet – and – greet with the children of the home and a group photograph.
