Tinubu’s Re-election: Ododo Calls for Door-to-Door Campaign in Kogi

Ahmed Usman Ododo inaugurates the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement and unveils 25 campaign vehicles in Kogi State.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo inaugurates the Kogi chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Lokoja, where 25 campaign vehicles were unveiled.

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has said his administration is targeting 99 per cent of the state’s votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, urging supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll.

Ododo made the declaration on Monday in Lokoja while inaugurating the Kogi State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre.

The governor charged members of the movement to take their campaign beyond political gatherings and engage voters directly in markets, villages, streets and households, stressing that electoral success would depend on effective communication and personal contact with the electorate.

“I commend your commitment and efforts towards providing the necessary logistics for our door-to-door campaign. I want to advise that these vehicles must carry our message to every street, every market, every village and every household,” Ododo said.

He cautioned that providing campaign vehicles and other logistics would not, on its own, guarantee victory, urging members to explain the administration’s policies and convince voters through meaningful engagement.

The governor also defended Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the President inherited significant economic challenges and had demonstrated the courage to address longstanding structural problems.

On security, Ododo commended the Federal Government’s support for efforts to tackle criminality in Kogi and other parts of the country.

He also expressed support for the proposed state police, arguing that decentralised policing would strengthen security operations and bring law enforcement closer to communities.

Ododo further praised the Federal Government’s renewed attention to the Abuja-Lokoja highway, describing the road as critical to transportation, trade and economic activities.

Citing developments in the state’s industrial sector, the governor said the establishment of new industries reflected an improved investment climate. He disclosed that he had recently visited a lubricant-producing company in Kogi that employs more than 200 people.

Earlier, the founder of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, described Tinubu as a bold leader whose reforms were intended to address Nigeria’s longstanding challenges.

Tompolo, who was represented by Kenstin Pondi, said the President had taken difficult decisions since assuming office in May 2023, including reforms in revenue allocation and the power sector.

According to him, the changes had expanded the capacity of state governments to execute development projects.

He urged members of the movement to intensify mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election, arguing that continuity was necessary to consolidate the ongoing reforms.

The National Coordinator of the movement for the North-Central, Sunday Asuku, also called on Nigerians to support the President by participating actively in the electoral process.

In her remarks, the newly inaugurated Kogi State Woman Leader of the movement, Habitat Salisu, thanked the organisation for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to work with other members to strengthen its activities across the state.

The event featured the inauguration of the movement’s Kogi State chapter and the unveiling of 25 campaign vehicles, alongside generators and public address systems to support its mobilisation activities across the state.
