Operation Light Up Kogi East resumes work after election/subsiding of rains

The operation Light Up Kogi East Project being chaired by the state Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja has resumed work following suspension of activities for the recent elections in the state and the end of the raining seasons.

On their resumed sitting on Wednesday in the office of the deputy governor in Lokoja, the committee took stock of where it had left off and assured that work would pick up to ensure the project was delivered on schedule.

Briefing committee members, Chief Onoja expressed appreciation to God for their victory at the governorship polls, saying that it was a testament to divine involvement because of the good intention of government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

He said the project had to stop to ensure proper concentration on the election, adding that the rains equally did not help continuation of the activities of the committee.

The committee chairman therefore resolved, for the purpose of acceleration of the project to delegate administrators to go back to their Local Government Areas and prepare a comprehensive list of electricity situations in their political wards.

The report of the exercise, he noted, would form part of the executive summary that would be made available to the Governor for his attention and approval to ensure that light were made available to rural communities in Igalaland.l on time.

He said the project remained dear to the heart of the Governor who wanted it done even before he assumed power in the state having noticed the darkness the area faced when he traveled through it from Benue where he worked to his home community in Kogi Central.

Chief Onoja thanked members of the committee and the people of Kogi East in general for their support for the candidature of the Governor and himself during the election and promised not to let them down.

In their separate remarks, members of the committee thanked the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the chairman of the committee for their display of passion for the project and prayed for divine protection for them to see to its completion.
