PAAU Seeks TETFund Support for Key Campus Projects »

The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has requested additional intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to address the institution’s power, security and accommodation needs.

The requests were presented on Friday, August 28, 2026, when the university hosted Dr Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, the TETFund Board of Trustees member representing the North Central geopolitical zone, on a courtesy visit.

Ocholi, an alumnus of PAAU, was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, alongside principal officers and other members of the university community.

In his welcome address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor commended TETFund for its interventions in the university since its establishment and expressed confidence that Ocholi’s visit would further strengthen the relationship between the institution and the fund.

The university management specifically requested the provision of a solar power plant and related equipment to help address its energy challenges.

Other requests included the construction of perimeter fencing along the university’s boundary, provision of a fire-fighting truck and establishment of a fire service station on campus, as well as the construction and furnishing of hostel accommodation for medical students.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also expressed appreciation for TETFund’s recent donation of 10 units of six-seater electric tricycles, saying the intervention would support the university’s operational activities.

Responding, Ocholi thanked the university management for the reception and said he was particularly pleased to return to the institution as an alumnus.

He disclosed that he obtained his first, second and third degrees from the university and said he had taken note of the requests presented by the management.

Ocholi assured the university that he would pursue support for the critical projects, particularly those relating to power, security, fire safety and student accommodation.

On the power challenge, he said he had earlier approached the relevant authorities following a complaint raised by the Vice-Chancellor, adding that the request had been forwarded to the appropriate desk for consideration.

He expressed optimism that the proposed power intervention would be considered soon and help address the university’s energy needs.

On perimeter fencing, Ocholi said he was committed to working towards ensuring that the project was achieved before the end of his tenure as a member of the TETFund Board of Trustees.

Regarding the proposed fire service station, he disclosed that discussions had already been held with the Director-General of the Federal Fire Service, even before his appointment to the TETFund board.

According to him, Anyigba had been considered as a possible location for the proposed fire station, while the facilities available within the university would make its premises a potential site.

Ocholi added that a dual approach would be adopted to expedite the process, including the submission of a formal request to TETFund, with the ultimate objective of establishing a functional fire-fighting station within the university.

On the proposed hostel for medical students, he assured the management that the request would be presented for consideration at the TETFund management level.

He also urged the university management to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly its efforts to reform and reposition the education sector and promote sustainable development.

The visit also featured an inspection of TETFund-funded projects across the university.

The university management subsequently presented copies of its bulletin to Ocholi as part of the activities marking the visit.
