INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION TAGGED TRANSFORMING EDUCATION
We are opportuned to be part of this year’s celebration of International Youth Day Celebration tagged TRANSFORMING EDUCATION.
The twelfth of August is a day set aside to celebrate youths across the world and agitate for the rightful placement of youths. To say youths are leaders of tomorrow is to say there’s no tomorrow. The narrative today is youths are leaders and should be actively involved in policies affecting them directly. In achieving leadership for youths, the role of education in the life of these youths is paramount.
Government at all levels must rejig policies affecting our educational platforms that is crumbling down so fast. Government must be decisive in ensuring youths get quality education if we truly seek to have a country tomorrow. The current state of commitment to education is passive therefore the need to increase budgetary allocations to our education to give room for more participation from the elementary level to tertiary education. Also the vocational training must be increased for positive impact on our economy through alternative job creation.
The State Council also calls the youths of Kogi State to shun social vices such as abuse of drugs and other criminal activities that will halt thier educational quest. The Council congratulates all youths on this occasion of this year’s celebration.
Build the youths
