Relations, APC leaders, associates commiserate with Hon Baba’Ali over mother’s demise

Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State and indeed the entire state today rose in commiseration with an APC stalwart and former commissioner for health in the state, Hon Suleiman Baba’Ali over his mother’s death.

It was a clear demonstration of solidarity with the bereaved family as political and religious leaders from all parts of the state across party and religious lines all attended the final burial prayers at the Lokoja Central Mosque.

Speaking over his mother’s death, Hon Suleiman Baba’Ali described late Hajiya Maimuna as a philanthropist who lived a life of service to the less privileged in the society.

He said he would miss his mother for her warmth and commitment to Islam, noting however that he took solace in the fact that she lived a fulfilled life.

The Late Hajiya Maimuna was until her death the Iye – Igala of Kogi State and the Sarauniyan – Mata of Lokoja. The title of Iye – Igala was conferred on the deceased 89 years old in 1981 by the then Maigari of Lokoja and then confirmed by the Late Attah Igala.

She was the state women leader of the SDP and served on various women committees in Lokoja for decades. She was also a member of Market Women Associations in the country and was blessed with eight children and many grand and great grand children.

Speaking at the prayer, the Director General of APC Lokoja Local Government Campaign Council, Hon Jimoh Fancy prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and the family, fortitude to bear the loss.

He said the APC family in Kogi State and indeed the entire country is bereaved by the death as late Hajiya Maimuna was a nationally recognised woman who helped in nurturing the party in the state.

Other speakers who also expressed grief over the death, prayed Allah to grant the deceased Jannatul – Firdaus.
