Sam Idoko or Frank J Edwards? Man behind several fake Facebook accounts Uncovered in Kogi
A middle-aged man has been exposed in Kogi State for allegedly running fake Facebook accounts posting provocative comments that could hurt social harmony.
Two of this pseudo accounts with the names ‘Frank J Edward’ and ‘Kogi Demon King’, observed to be propaganda tools used to promote hate speech against the person of Chief Edward Onoja, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, his boss, Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC government in the state, were traced to one Michael Sam Idoko, an indigene of Kogi State from Olamaboro Local Government area, who also claims to be an event anchor.
The accused, Michael Sam Idoko, also known as Mc-Highness, was unmasked earlier today by some concerned citizens after they felt that the accounts were promoting contents capable of causing ethno-political tension in the state.
Mc-Highness who has sponsored several unprovoked smear campaigns directly at the Deputy Governor of Kogi State through these pseudo accounts seems to have met his waterloo after attempting yet again to rope the Deputy Governor in the arrest of one Habib Rabiu who is in court for fake news.
When confronted with the discovery on a Whatsapp chat, Mc-Highness who is from the same local government with the Deputy Governor denied being the person behind those accounts despite overwhelming evidence linking the said accounts to his email and phone number. He insisted that his name was photoshoped with the account.
When faced with more evidence, the visibly panicked Sam blamed hackers for his ordeal.
Asked if he was going to press charges, the Deputy Governor who reacted by saying that he was glad to have the ‘demon’ exposed, added he has left the accused to face the judgement of God.
It can be recalled that in a bid to stem the tide of rising cases of hate speech and fake news, stakeholders have advocated for stiffer punishment for peddlers of hate speech, which they said creates apprehension, a lot of mistrust and divides the country along ethnic and religious lines.
With this discovery, we are now left to wonder if this particular case will be left to die out, or be used as deterrent to those who are into the the same unholy practice.
