The Signature of GYB in Ihima »

Ihima has been in the news for quite some time. It is arguably a place where political wrestling and upheaval seem to manifest in their full proportion primarily occasioned by those who neither understand the essence of politics nor have a grasp of the beauty of a rancor-free society.

Okehi Local Government Area is made up of Ihima and Eyika political zones, with Ihima having seven political wards and Eyika with four political wards. The 2006 population census put the population of Okehi Local Government at 199,999. This is of course a considerably large number of people. It is also on the record that Okehi is blessed with notable elites, professionals, astute politicians, and people of note in all human endeavors.

In recent times, Ihima witnessed the emergence of those bereft of the true history of Ihima and her people, used the toga of politics to poison the beautiful fountain of the land, their minds filled with rot tried to bring back the exercise of wanton vices and taboos but Ihima is not a place founded on treachery neither is it a place inhabited by people who forget their benefactors and only seek mayhem.

Governor Yahaya Bello had on the 4th of September, 2022 visited Oboroke in Ihima where a government technical college is situated for an on the spot assessment of the condition of the school. The governor as a man that knows his onions, reiterated the need to resuscitate the love for the brotherhood that the people are known for while at the same time sending a warning to those who are fond of causing mayhem in society to stay off. He equally without any hesitation ordered the total overhaul of the school infrastructure and proceeded to visit other project sites in Ihima.

This warning is because of the precedent of agents of darknes who caused near-extinction of our people in the land by unleashing dark spells, strife and death on the people which were only saved by Governor Yahaya Bello when he assumed leadership in Kogi state. The Governor who detests any appearance of evil in the land attempted to ward off the agent and merchants of evil.

One would have expected that drums will be rolled out by all and sundry to welcome the torchbearer of peace but alas the microscopic political nincompoop and the purveyor of all things heinousness, while hiding under the cloak of politics, unleashed verbal attacks and confrontations. It is obvious that these set of people only desire a place where life is nasty, brutish, solitary, poor, and short. The malodorous stench of this evil politically manipulative Darken Rahl permeated the refreshing atmosphere the people longed to savor.

Fast forward to the 5th of November, 2022, the people of Ihima sent out a strong signal to the depraved politicians and made it clear that enough is enough. The people in their thousands staged a rally from the starting point to the end of Ihima territory. They reminded those who mischievously feigned ignorance of the good deeds of the governor in Kogi state, Ebira land, and Ihima.

The massive rally proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the Ihima people are passionately in love with Governor Yahaya Bello, though the few evil elements amongst the people may strive to dent the image of the generally large number of good sons and daughters of the soil, that day showed unequivocally the uncompromising love of the people for Governor Yahaya Bello.

It is however unthinkable in any form or figment of the imagination that anyone will work against Governor Yahaya Bello anywhere in Kogi state, although the ears of the wall have it that the opposition Party is sending out divisive conspiracies in the camp of the APC. We are aware of their satanic strategy to cause mistrust amongst the loyalists of the governor but all their evil merchandise will fail and they will be greatly disappointed on all fronts because it is a divine mandate that our able Governor leads our state into peace and prosperity, which he has been doing.

The signature of Governor Yahaya Bello in Ihima, nay in the entire Kogi state is that of love, development, peace, progress, empathy, unity, justice, fairness, goodwill, and equity. These he has made manifest in every sense and corner of the state.
