“Unity Tour” initiative takes Governor Bello’s aides on Students to Kogi poly as Rector laud duo

The “Unity Tour” initiative of the current aides to the Kogi State Governor on Students, Hon Ahmadu Jibril Oludare and Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida, has taken the duo to Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja.

Introducing the essence of the programme, Hon Oludare who is the Special Adviser said it was created to further cement the peaceful and cordial working relationship among management, staff and students of all higher institutions in the state.

The aide who was full of praise for the decision of the present administration to give priority to the young ones said the brilliance of his Special Assistant colleague, Comrade Babangida, helped in ensuring the team had a smooth implementation across schools.

He was particularly full of praise for the peaceful disposition of Governor Yahaya Bello, who he said has continually hammered on the need for the spirit of EbIgO to lead across the state, adding that it was only in an atmosphere of tranquility that development could thrive.

Speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students, Comrade Isah Onimisi Babangida, who also praised the cordial working relationship between him and Hon Oludare said they were a good match for the offices they occupy.

He said they were a good example of of EbIgO as has been entrenched by the New Direction Government should operate, saying they truly compliment each other.

Comrade Babangida emphasised on the love that Govenrkr Bello has for Education saying it forms the first item on the Blueprint of the administration.

While urging all the staff and students of the Polytechnic to always speak about and do things that would encourage peace among them, he used the occasion to applaud Governor Bello for appointing the Rector, Dr Usman Salisu Ogbo.

Comrade Babangida, who described Dr Ogbo as the right man for the job, restated his determination to working closely with all heads of tertiary institutions and stakeholders to ensure the objectives of government in the sector was achieved.

Reactoy, the Rector, Dr Usman Ogbo expressed gratitude to the SA and SSA for finding it worthy to visit the school and used the opportunity to praise their recent intervention to quell the brewing protest by students for the death of their colleague in an accident.

He said seeing the Governor’s aides under a scorching sun trying to placate angry students was a clear demonstration of their determination to work, not only for government, but also for the students they were appointed to take care of their matter.

While meeting with the Student Union Government, NAKOSS, Tribal Heads and Departmental leaders in the college, the SSA assured the students of the Governor’s commitment to seeing to adequately taking care of their welfare as evident in the recent approval for the construction of a pedestrian bridge and speed breakers around the highway close to the school.

On his part, the SUG President, while speaking on behalf of other student leaders, appreciated the Governor for appointing an SSA and SA Student Affairs who were once unionist. said the action proves Governor Bello has the interest of the students at heart and wants effective change in the student Affairs. He also expressed his sincere happiness saying this was the first time such an interactive session would hold in their school.

He urged the SSA to continue with his open door policy, saying the interactive session gave room for them to air their pains which the SSA and SA promised to present to government and find ways of addressing squarely.
