Valedictory Interactive Session: Ex- information Boss extols information officers

As he bows out with his head high after an outstanding time in office, the immediate past Director General of Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik was celebrated by all in the state information sector as they converged on Graphic House to bid him farewell sequel to the dissolution of the State Executive Council by Governor Yahaya Bello.

During the last interactive session he held with the management team of the Bureau and allied parastatals, the ex-information boss said he was fulfilled to have brought some hitherto neglected functions of Information alive in the state.

While reeling out some of his achievements in office, he noted that the heart warming breakthrough recorded during his tenure was made possible through the enabling working environment created by Governor Yahaya Bello and the cooperation of the vibrant and unrelenting staff of the state information unit.

He identified the recruitment of new staff to fill existing vacancies in the Bureau, The Graphic, and Radio Kogi as well as procurement of an Outside Broadcast (OB) Van for the State Broadcasting Corporation, as milestones and right steps taken by the State Government to reposition the information sector in the state.

He also noted that the commencement of the Weekend Graphic as a second edition of the state owned newspaper and the compilation of a compendium which chronicles the state admistrators and their achievements from inception as major strides towards putting state records straight for the archives.

Abdulmalik encouraged the management team to leverage on his achievements in building a formidable information sector that is second to none in the country, advising them to continue working in unison to be at the forefront in information dissemination among the best states.

In their various remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, the Director General of the state Broadcasting Corporation and The Managing Director of The Graphic extoled the virtues of the outgoing Director General, saying their working with him had made them better in their various offices.

They said he would be remembered for his unique leadership style, skills and intelligence.

Mr. Abdulmalik, who was first appointed Special Adviser, Media and Strategy to Governor Yahaya Bello had before joining the government carved a niche for himself as a thorough-bred journalist and media administrator with records of excellence, diligence and professionalism having risen to the peak in the golden epoch of The Daily Times.
