We are working towards returning FFK to APC – Kogi Gov says
For the Kogi State Governor, the ruling APC is interested in welcoming all manner persons, irrespective of hitherto held political views into the party in the ongoing revalidation and registration exercise.
He stated this on Wednesday when he played host to the former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu who paid him a courtesy visit in Kogi State and told him that Chief Femi Fani Kayode was on his way to joining the party.
Governor Bello said his committee on Sensitisation and Mobilisation has the mandate of attracting everyone into the party and not only people within certain demographic, adding that people’s political views can change over time.
The Governor, who described Chief Fani – Kayode as one of the founding members of the APC, urged current party faithful to be accommodating and eschew politics with bitterness for the progress of Nigeria as discussions were on at the highest level to have him rejoin the ruling party.
“It may not go down well in the minds of some people, but it is natural to hold critical views about government and how policies and programmes are implemented and go about expressing it your own way. That is politics.”
He thanked Senator Kalu for being a big brother and political leader who always shared his opinions and gave pieces of advice on how to move the country forward, adding that he was a true Nigerian and elder statesman who has the interest of the entire nation at heart.
He said his administration was working assiduously towards ensuring the development of all sectors of the state, and thanked his guest for his kind words about improvement in infrastructure under the current government, especially in terms of security of lives and property.
Senator Kalu had earlier in his address applauded the Governor for the relative peace being enjoyed in the state compared to what obtained in the past.
He also described Governor Bello as a man who wants to grow through his close relationship with his mother, saying they shared the same trait in that area, in addition to himself being Governor of his state at a young age.
Senator Kalu who is also the senate chief whip restated his commitment to supporting policies and programmes that would bring about the unity and overall development of the country.
In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja had thanked his guests and joined his faith to theirs for the emergence of Messiah of the country from within the venue.
