‘We have capacity to conduct Covid-19 test’, – KGSG

The Kogi State Government has decried the news making the round that it was not willing to test the citizens for the Covid-19 virus because it does not have the capacity to engage in testing

This was made known on Monday by the State’s Commissioner of health, Dr. Saka Haruna at the event of the donation of 27,000 face masks to the three different senatorial district by the Igala Cultural Development Association ICDA.

Dr. Saka noted that as against such information, the state posses rapid testing kits which was one of the most sophisticated testing systems in the country.

He pointed out that the Antigen based test kits has a one hundred percent identification precision of the virus with result generated within 30 minutes.

The Health Commissioner affirmed that several individuals either through the State’s web application or individually have approached the State for testing.

He noted that such persons after enquiry were notified that they were not medically qualified for testing and the stand of the state’s team were affirmed after the test which those concerned had elsewhere came out negative.

He pointed out that Kogi State Government has continued to take the lead in safeguarding the healthcare of his people even before the Covid- 19 pandemic and would continue in such measures.
