COVID-19: CSO Boss advises Kogi citizens to adhere to precautionary measures

The Kogi State Coordinator of COVID-19 CSOs Emergency Intervention Group, Miss Idakwoji Hauwa Rose has advised the people of the state to adhere strictly to all the known COVID-19 preventive measures in order not to contract the virus.

Miss Idakwoji gave the advice on Monday in a live radio programme on Confluence Radio, FM 94.1, Lokoja while speaking on the topic; Observing the COVID-19 Protocols and simple Precautionary Measures as a matter of Self Responsibility.

She said the wide spread virus which has become a global health challenge with its drawbacks, had made it expedient for all hands to be on deck to contribute their quota so as to curtail the further spread in the country and Kogi State in particular.

According to her, the radio programme which was conceived by her organization to educate and sensitize the people on the need to adhere strictly to all the precautionary measures was part of its obligation as a civil society.

She enjoined the people of the state to take to good personal hygiene and the necessary precautions such as constant washing of hands with soap and water, covering of the nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing.

Also, the need to avoid close contact with people that are sick, mass gathering of people, constant wearing of face mask, not touching surfaces as they could have been contaminated with the virus amongst others.

The Kogi State Coordinator of COVID-19 CSOs Emergency Intervention Group equally spoke on its organization’s level of readiness to take the sensitization programme to the grassroots to adequately education the vulnerable villagers who are mostly uneducated and uninformed.

Speaking further, she urged citizens not to panic from the pandemic as symptoms of the virus could be treated, even though there was no known available cure currently, she added.

She however, commended the Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello for its level of preparedness and measures adopted to address the pandemic in the state.
