“We must synergize to ensure peace in Ofu LGA,” Hon Hassan Atawodi to stakeholders
The Caretaker Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area Council, Hon. Sani Hassan Atawodi, has called on all stakeholders to synergize to ensure peace and security in the area.
The security meeting being the first since he assumed office on January 9th, had in attendance the Head of Nigeria Army, DSS, Police, Civil Defence, and other security agencies, as well as traditional rulers from across the local government area.
The meeting which focused on enhancing synergy, advancing impactful cooperation, and discussing the development of sustainable peace network within the Ofu, also sought to identify and support structures that strengthen peace and tranquilly.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Sani Hassan Atawodi appreciated the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, for giving him the opportunity to serve as as caretaker chairman. He praised the traditional rulers and security personnel for the synergy exercised in maintaining peace in the local government thus far.
He said the issue of security is topmost in his administration, and should not leave any stone unturned in the quest to maintain peace and order. He implored the people to be security conscious and ensure peaceful coexistence.
“I have listened and noted the challenges pointed out. I will take everything into consideration. I want to encourage you all to be proactive in your duties. Like I said and always say, no stone should be left unturned as long as the security business is concerned. I will give you my 100% support to ensure we have peace in our various communities,” he concluded.
In their separate remarks, the security heads and tranditional rulers in Ofu Local Government Area spoke in unison about the need to work together to ensure the security situation in their various communities is under control.
They pointed out some key security challenges and the measures put in place so far to curb the challenges. They also sought the support of the caretaker chairman in order to discharge their duties effectively.
