The drama on whether Barrister Babatunde Irukera has been cleared by the Uzondinma committee for Kogi State governorship polls in November has taken another turn as the party chairman for Yagba West, Hon David Samuel has threatened to sue Irukera for forging his signature.

Hon Samuel who is a retired Major in the Nigerian Army made the threat a while ago at a press conference he held at the APC secretariat in Lokoja.

The chairman, who denied ever having any financial dealings with Barrister Irukera said he was in discussion with his legal team to seek redress against claims in a letter in the media, where the governorship aspirant said he was responsible for payment of rent for party secretariat and APC staff salaries in his Local Government Area of Yagba West.

The press statement reads; “My attention has been drawn to a letter in circulation in segments of the media, written on the 25rd of August, 2019, purportedly originating from one Barrister Babatunde Ayokunle Irukera claiming that I, Hon (major) David O. Samuel (Rtd) was signatory to.

“In the said letter, Barrister Babatunde Ayokunle Irukera claimed to have been responsible for the payment of rent for the party secretariat, Odo – Ere; payment of staff salaries in party LGA secreatraiat among others.

“To the best of my knowledge as the APC party Chairman for Yagba West Local Government Area, I wish to state clearly that I have never received a penny from Barrister Babatunde Ayokunle Irukera either directy or by proxy for the purposes highlighted above since my assumption of office.

“I want to draw the attention of the whole world to the leter and the purported signature that appeared on the said letter. It did not originate from me and should be completely disregarded, discountenanced, and not to be honoured by members of the public or authority whatsoever.

“As a party man and a law abiding citizen of Nigeria who has excelled in his chosen career and rose through the ranks to the exalted position of a Major in the Nigerian Amy, I am in discussion with my legal team on the necessary legal action within the ambits of the law to bring those behind this dastardly act to book.”
