Youth Empowerment: Kogi Deputy Speaker urges synergy amongst influential Ankpa indigenes »

Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has once more, called on Influential Sons and Daughters of Ankpa LGA to collaborate with Stakeholders, Government to support the youths of the area out of unemployement and poverty.

He made this call while receiving youth groups and students associations who paid him a courtesy visit earlier today. He said the need to tackle rising youth unemployment requires collective effort of the Stakeholders, Government, Sons and Daughters of Ankpa who are blessed. He suggested that all hands must be on deck to develop a coordinated, overarching youth employment policy, empowerment schemes, and with this, our teeming youths who are found in several social vices can be engaged and earn a living.

“When it comes to the well-being of youth in Ankpa LGA, Kogi and the country at large, it’s very easy to talk in terms of what we don’t want them to do. Yet, simply focusing on eradicating problems isn’t enough. We will achieve huge success if we all come together to begin wrestling with a different and, perhaps, a more important question: what is it that we do want for the young people of our community? How do we assist them? Some of our brothers out there have opportunities of giving out jobs, support business ideas, i must commend all their efforts so far but we must come together to do more for our youths.

“I am calling on all stakeholders, Ankpa Decides, Ankpa Progressives, Ankpa Rebirth group, all other groups who have positively promoted the peace, unity and integrity of Ankpa to come together, have a round table discussion and suggest a better way forward. We must think of a lasting solution to engage our brothers and sisters now”. He said.

He advised the youths to be ambassadors and promoters of good conduct, as this will go a long way in making them better citizens.
