2019 Bunu Week to improve Okun socioeconomic development

The 2019 Bunu Week celebration which is expected to host the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello as its Special Guest of Honour on Saturday at Oke-Bukun Bunu is expected to aid in improving the socioeconomic development of the area.

This was made public by the Chairman of Central Working Committee for the event, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) who said the week-long Programme which commenced on Monday will be rounded up with a Summit titled ‘Towards a Greater Bunu; Our Story Our Hope’ to be delivered by Professor Etanibi Alemika.

According to him, Maj. Gen. David Jemibewon will serve as the Chairman, while Alhaji Aliko Dangote is expected as the Chief Launcher for the 2019 Projects.

The Chairman, Central Planning Committee who is also the State Security Adviser said the major focus of Bunu Week was human capital development and promotion of Bunu culture and traditions.

Others expected are; His Royal Majesty, the Olubunu of Bunu land, Oba Joseph Ikusemoro who will be the Royal Father of the Day, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi as the Royal Ambassador, Professor Olu Obafemi, the Guest of Honour and among others.

Speaking further, he added that the event was planned along side others to train and equip graduates in photography, youth training at the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute Lokoja, skill acquisitions and empowerment for women.

“Award to 20 students with outstanding performances in 2019 JAMB, Skill Training and Empowerment for 15 Youths, Skill acquisition and Empowerment for 15 Women, Professional Training in Photography with equipment for 3 graduates, Football Tournaments and Environmental Day clean-ship in all towns and villages in Bunu Land,” he elucidated.

While inviting the general public, he appealed to all the sons and daughters of Bunu kingdom to be punctual.
