Eid-el-Kabir: Gov Bello felicitates Muslims; cautions against lawlessness

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has enjoined the Muslim ummah to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir in love and care for one another.

Governor Bello made the call on Sunday shortly after the two rakat prayer at the Eid praying ground in Okene to mark the celebration.

While urging politicians in the state to go about their campaign activities peacefully within the ambits of the law, not taking laws into their hands, he however cautioned of the law catching up with any group of persons found wanting.

“I congratulate everyone of us for yet another sallah celebration. Eid-el-Kabir is a celebration of sacrifice and obedience to God. Let’s do this celebrate in fear of almighty Allah in love and care for one another. Live in peace, harmony and togetherness as much as possible.”

“We are approaching elections, both primaries and the main election. I urge all politicians to go about their campaigns without fear or favor, marketing their candidates.”

“My government place priority on the protection of the lives and property of its citizens, we will not stop at anything to ensure our people and the land are safe.
Nobody should take laws into their hands, not even members of any political party should take laws into their hands. Whomever does that will be treated as a common criminal. Please, I am pleading even to my supporters and party faithfuls to be guided.”

“The primary responsibility of any responsible government is the security, peace, unity and togetherness of its people. Those challenging my ambition both within and outside APC should be giving a level playing field without intimidation,” he added.

Speaking further, Governor Bello noted that the state ranks first and second in terms of peace and the most secured state in the federation adding that his government would continue to work hard to ensure the temple is maintained.

He reiterated the readiness of his administration’s desire to build on its modest achievements recorded so far within the period of their stay in office, stressing that his tenure had done much in an effort for development to cut across all parts of the state.

In his sermon, the acting Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Alhaji Saliu Abere advised the people to imbibe the virtue of obedience, sacrifice, faithfulness, and patience as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (SAW).

The Chief Imam also sued for peace amongst the people of the state for development to continue to thrive and as well solicit prayers for the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, top government functionaries were among dignitaries that worshiped at the Eid.

The Chief Imam thereafter slaughtered a ram signifying sacrifice and patience.
The Governor also slaughtered a ram symbolising the essence of the festival at his residence.
