Onoja Lauds Traditional Institution For Upholding cultural values

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja has extolled traditional rulers across the State for their roles as custodians of the people’s culture and stakeholders of community development.

He made this known when he ably represented his principal, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the Fundraiser for the building of a befitting Palace for the Ejeh of Olamaboro for which conferment of titles to notable individuals had been held earlier before his arrival.

In a remark, Chief Onoja who also doubled as Chairman of the occasion said the ground-breaking event was aimed at complementing the efforts of government on matters related to traditional institutions in the state. He commended the Ejeh of Olamaboro, HRH Ujah Sani Simeon for birthing the idea for the erection of the palace, describing it as “a show of commitment and doggedness.”

He stated that the a Palace for the Ejeh was long overdue and insisted that it had become expedient to cater for the coveted stool for generations to come. Chief Onoja espoused that Okpo and Olamaboro LGA by extension is particularly a testimony to the fact that His Excellency, Governor Yayaha Bello is not only fair in administration, but a detribalised Leader who continues to show mentorship to the next generation of leaders.

He highlighted that the Okpo Central Mosque and quality road project the Area enjoys, among others were courtesy of Governor Bello’s vision for inclusive governance and lauded the Executive Chairman of the Olamaboro LGA, Hon. Friday Adejoh for the construction of road network leading to the Local Government Secretariat in Okpo.

On his thoughts for the Fundraiser, he charged well-meaning sons and daughters of the Area as well as other invited guests to contribute gracefully in the bid to bring the edifice to fruition, recommending that monies generated from it be put into immediate use to expedite the pace of work at the proposed site.

Personalities conferred with titles were Pharm. Alexander Onoja as Eyo Eju Ejeh Olamaboro, Mal. Usman Mohammed Kabir as Ochai Ejeh Olamaboro, Dr. Kashim Akoh as O’challa Ejeh Olamaboro, SP.Mathias Abah as Oga Onu Ejeh Olamaboro and Alh. Momoh Isah as Okakwu Ejeh Olamaboro.

Others were Dr. Sanusi Ohiare as Akiliwo Ejeh Olamaboro, Mr. Sunday Umoru as Adoja Ejeh Olamaboro and Mr. Bolufemi Rotimi as Olimene Ejeh Olamaboro.

In attendance were Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Member, KSHA representing Olamaboro State Constituency, Deputy Speaker, KSHA and his colleagues, former APC National Woman Leader, former Assembly Member Representing Igalamela State Constituency, host of the event and Chairman of Olamaboro LGA and his counterparts, visiting and resident traditional rulers, council and ward Excos, religious as well as political leaders, amongst others.
