KYDC operationalization: Committee seeks support from PYU Commissioner
Poised to ensuring the smooth takeoff of the Kogi State Youth Development Commission, the Advocacy Committee on KYDC paid an Advocacy visit to the Commissioner, Youth Political Participation, Pan-African Youth Union, Ambassador Oladele John Nihi in Abuja to solicit for his support.
The leader of the advocacy team, Comrade Umar Dan’Assabe Muhammed thanked the Commissioner for receiving the team despite the short notice. He said the essence of the visit was to solicit the his support for the operationalization of the Kogi State Youth Development Commission. According to him, the Commissioner is an important figure identified in the strategy meeting by ActionAid, adding that being a foundational member of the advocacy team before his new position, the team still has confidence in his ability to push for the full takeoff of the Commission.
“We hope that you can use your good office in helping the Kogi State Youth to Develop”, Umar added.
Ambassador Oladele, in his response, thanked the group for finding him worthy as a point of contact on the operationalization of the Kogi Youth Development Commission.
According to him, the Kogi Youth Development Commission is a child he played a part in nurturing at formulation state as the Youth Council Chairman of Kogi State through the Kogi Youth Advocacy Cluster, therefore, he can’t be in a position to be of help and not make it happen because it will amount to bringing down his own effort. He promised to do all within his reach to ensure the operationalization of the Kogi Youth Development Commission.
“Governor Yahaya Bello is a youth that loves Youths, that’s why he will not hesitate to heed to the yearning of Kogi State Youths. The speedy assent to the KYDC bill is a pointer to his commitment to youth development in the state and in Nigeria by 2023 when he becomes the President. he said.
The Commissioner used the visit to call on all Youths of Kogi State and Nigeria to key into the GYB2PYB dream and produce a youthful president come 2023 in Governor Yahaya Bello.
Also, the Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Labour matters, Hon. Bode Adeyemi also promised to use his office to influence the operationalization of the commission. He said anything that will be of the Interest of the youths and galvanize support and love for Governor Yahaya Bello is his primary duty, especially amongst the labour force and; the operationalization of the commission will boil-down to labour matters which I will also support when the time comes.
Recall that Governor Yahaya Bello, on the 24th of April, 2019, singed into law the Kogi State Youth Development Commission bill to amongst others things, address the issues of prevailing economic challenges through systemic and sustainable youth engagement and empowerment programs.
