Kogi State Polytechnic Holds 2024/2025 Orientation for New Students
Kogi State Polytechnic has organized its 2024/2025 orientation program for newly admitted National Diploma (ND1) and Higher National Diploma (HND1) students. The event took place on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the institution’s main campus in Lokoja.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, was represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, who welcomed the fresh students and emphasized the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and holistic student development.
He said the orientation program served as a platform to educate new students on the institution’s policies, culture, and expectations, equipping them for a seamless integration into academic life.
The Rector urged the students to study their handbook which contains the general code of conduct for students and adhere strictly to the rules, assuring them that the Polytechnic which is one of the best in country is poised to grooming students who will become assests to the country.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Chairperson of the Matriculation Committee, Mrs. Balagbogbo Ardlene Omolola, congratulated the students on their admission and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities available for academic and personal growth. She highlighted the importance of discipline, diligence, and active participation in campus activities.
Addressing security concerns, the Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr. Onuh Emmanuel, stressed the need for students to prioritize safety and remain vigilant. He advised them to report any suspicious activities and adhere strictly to campus security regulations to ensure a safe learning environment.
The Polytechnic’s Director of Legal Services, Barrister Williams Ameh, spoke extensively on student conduct and discipline. He urged the students to familiarize themselves with the institution’s rules and regulations, warning that any form of misconduct would attract appropriate sanctions.
Additionally, the Dean of the Directorate of Student Services, Mr. Abdulmumin Umar, provided insights into the general guidelines governing hostel life and overall campus conduct. He encouraged students to maintain cleanliness, respect hostel rules, and engage positively in campus life.
The two-day event is set to conclude tomorrow with the formal matriculation ceremony, officially welcoming the students into the Polytechnic community.
