Hon. Charity Ijese Hails Governor Ododo’s Presence at Ovia-Osese Festival, Says Ogori People Will Continue to Support His Administration »

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Women Mobilization, Hon. Charity Ijese, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for honouring the people of Ogori with his presence at the 2025 Ovia-Osese Festival.

Speaking shortly after the colourful cultural event held on Saturday in Ogori, Hon. Ijese described the Governor’s attendance as a powerful gesture of solidarity and a testament to his deep commitment to youth and women development, as well as the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the Ogori people.

“The presence of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, at this year’s Ovia-Osese Festival is not just symbolic, it is deeply reassuring,” Hon. Ijese stated. “It demonstrates his strong support for the growth of young women, his appreciation for our traditions, and his commitment to community development across Kogi State.”

She noted that the governor’s love for the people of Ogori has been consistent, and it is this genuine concern for their well-being and cultural pride that continues to endear him to the community.

“Our people have seen and felt the governor’s goodwill, and I can assure you that the Ogori community will continue to give his administration massive support,” she added.

The Ovia-Osese Festival, celebrated annually in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area, is a revered cultural rite of passage that honours young maidens who have maintained chastity and moral discipline as they transition into womanhood. This year’s edition attracted dignitaries, cultural enthusiasts, and indigenes from across and beyond Kogi State.

Hon. Ijese further lauded the efforts of the Ogori Descendants Union and traditional leaders for sustaining the legacy of the festival, while urging the youths to embrace its core values of dignity, virtue, and community pride.

Governor Ododo, who served as the Guest of Honour at the event, was warmly received by traditional rulers and the people of Ogori, further strengthening the bond between the state leadership and the grassroots.
