Gov Ododo Performs Groundbreaking for MUFKAD Estate’s Ita’azi Court Housing Project in Kogi

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday performed the ground-breaking ceremony for Ita’azi Court, a state-of-the-art housing initiative by MUFKAD Estate. The event was held at the project site located opposite the Itakpe Train Station along the Okene-Lokoja expressway.

Represented by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika, Governor Ododo described the housing project as a strategic investment that will benefit both residents and travelers, especially those using the adjacent rail station.

“This initiative aligns with our administration’s commitment to bridging the housing deficit across the state through integrated urban development and access to decent housing,” Abanika stated. He emphasized the need for high standards and quality execution and commended MUFKAD Estate for investing in the state’s future.

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Zakari Otokiti, Member representing Okehi Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, praised MUFKAD’s Chief Executive, Engr. Lawal Mohammed, for the visionary concept. He urged citizens to consider investing at home to enhance the state’s economy and tackle the housing shortfall.

In his address, Managing Director of MUFKAD Estate, Engr. Kamal Lawal, said Ita’azi Court marks the beginning of an exciting journey to provide premium living spaces and contribute meaningfully to Kogi’s socio-economic development.

According to him, the project will occupy two hectares of land and comprise 23 housing units. About 63% of the land will be dedicated to housing, while 23% is earmarked for recreational and landscaped areas. The estate will feature a standard hotel, high-, medium-, and low-density residential units, shops, a gym, and a green zone.

Additional features include a 33KV power line connection, solar backup generator, 24-hour security, and a biometric access gate system.

Addressing newsmen, the Project Manager, Engr. Suberu Onimisi, noted that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope housing agenda and Governor Ododo’s Housing for All initiative.

Onimisi noted that the project which is first of its kind in Kogi is almost impossible except those who could fathom what the future holds for the state, adding it was his pleasure to replicate what is obtainable in places like FCT, Lagos and other big cities in Itakpe (Abobo) by delivering to the people houses that will redefine their ways of life with the most modern facilities.

Dignitaries at the event included the Vice Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, the Kogi State Commissioner for Works, and other top government functionaries, all of whom commended MUFKAD Estate for bringing such a forward-thinking development to Kogi State.
