Kogi NYCN Praises Ododo, Anyebe for Empowering Over 200 Youths With Grants
Kogi State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, for empowering more than 200 youths with business grants.
The Council made the commendation in a statement marking the 2026 International Youth Day, describing the intervention as an investment in youth entrepreneurship, self-reliance and economic participation.
According to the NYCN, the grants will provide beneficiaries with resources to start, strengthen and expand their businesses, while potentially creating employment opportunities and supporting families across the state.
The Council said youth empowerment should go beyond financial assistance, arguing that strategic investment in young people can create pathways to dignity, innovation and sustainable economic participation.
“What we are doing today is not charity. It is an investment. It is an investment by the government and people of Kogi State in the intelligence, creativity, enterprise, and determination of our young people,” the Council quoted the government as saying.
The NYCN said it identified with the position, noting that supporting more than 200 young entrepreneurs could contribute to business development, job creation and economic growth in communities across Kogi State.

The Council also acknowledged the role of Anyebe in driving youth-focused initiatives and ensuring that government programmes reach young people.
It said the administration’s focus on economic opportunities for youths was important in addressing insecurity, arguing that young people with meaningful opportunities to build legitimate livelihoods were better positioned to contribute positively to society.
The NYCN urged beneficiaries of the grants to treat the intervention as both an opportunity and a responsibility by using the funds judiciously, growing their businesses and creating employment where possible.
The Council further called on the Kogi State Government to sustain and expand youth empowerment programmes across the 21 local government areas, with emphasis on entrepreneurship, agriculture, digital skills, vocational training, innovation, sports and access to affordable business finance.
The NYCN Kogi State Chapter said it remained committed to working with the state government and other stakeholders to promote a generation of skilled, empowered, responsible and economically independent young people.
It also congratulated the beneficiaries and commended Governor Ododo and Anyebe for making youth empowerment a component of the state’s development agenda.
