Onuh Edoka Receives Radio Kogi Award for Labour Leadership
Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, has received an Award of Excellence in Labour Leadership and Public Service from the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, popularly known as Radio Kogi.
Edoka received the award on Thursday at the Government House during activities marking the 35th anniversary of Radio Kogi.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Edoka dedicated it to workers in the state and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, saying workers gave him the opportunity to serve them while the governor provided him with the opportunity to contribute to public service as Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
He expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Radio Kogi for recognising his contributions to the development of the state, both as a former labour leader and as an appointee of the present administration.
According to Edoka, leadership is fundamentally about service to humanity, stressing that selflessness and sincerity remain important qualities of effective leadership.
He said the recognition would encourage him to do more and urged others to embrace the values of giving and selfless service.
“I must sincerely appreciate the Management of Radio Kogi for finding me worthy of this award, this is because I am not the only former labour leader, neither am I the only serving Special Adviser, I will not take the honour for granted and so I say thanks to Radio Kogi leadership for this award,” Edoka said.

Earlier, the Director-General of Radio Kogi, Princess Nana Hauwa Yusuf, said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the corporation’s 35-year journey and consider the way forward.
Yusuf said Edoka was selected for the special award because of his contributions to governance and his antecedents as a labour leader, which included serving two terms as Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kogi State.
She urged people in leadership positions to strive to make meaningful contributions that would endure for posterity.
Edoka attended the event with the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani; Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, Comrade Olusegun Alemeru; other labour leaders and friends.
