Kogi State
Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has again advised criminals and their sponsors to
‘pack and leave’ because his administration was ready to sniff them out of
their hideouts.
He made the promise on Monday in Lokoja during the launch
of the new police operations by the Inspector General of Police tagged ‘Operation
Puff Adder.’
Represented by the Secretary to the State
Government, Folashade Arike, the Governor said one of the objectives of his
administration was to leave behind a legacy of a secured and prosperous state.
He said Kogi State under him was righting the wrongs
of the past, hence his determination not to allow merchants of insecurity to continue
in the boom of their operations, and advised them to relocate out of the state.
In his words; “Kogi State is not for bandits,
kidnappers, armed robbers, mercenaries and other types of criminals and their
sponsors. So it is better they relocate out of the state.
“We want peace to reign in all parts of the state. We
don’t want to jettison our responsibility of creating an environment for peace
and security of all the citizens of the state. Our administration is committed
to encouraging investors to flood the state, and security of the state is one
of the ways we want to achieve that.”
Speaking, the Security Adviser to the Governor, Navy
Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) lauded the Inspector General of the Police for
introducing Operation Puff Adder in Kogi State, saying Governor Bello was doing
all his best to ensure its success.
He also reiterated the commitment of the governor
towards the success of the all security measures by security agencies to end
all issues militating against peaceful coexistence of the state.
