Kogi SSG advocates alternative conflict resolution

By Akadiri Emmanuel Ademola

The secretary to Kogi State Government, Ayoade Folahsade Arike has appealed to citizens of the stakeholders in the state’s security sector to employ the use of dialogue in resolving their conflicts rather than resorting to violence.

She made the suggestion on Tuesday at the township stadium in Lokoja during the Security Summit held as part of activities to mark two years anniversary of the present administration in the state.

Mrs Folashade pointed out that verbal interactions are very important in view of the prevailing situation currently being faced in the society, especially as it regards long standing attacks and reprisals between farmers and cattle herders in parts of the state.

She highlighted the strategic position of Kogi State in the country, adding that it serves as a gateway to many parts of Nigeria.

The SSG applauded the efforts of the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello in ensuring the safety of lives and property, adding that the digital surveillance put in place has assisted in curbing several security threats in many parts of the state.

While asserting that Kogi State, unlike its neighbours, has continued to enjoy relative peace in view of the effective efforts of the security agencies in the state, enjoined the citizens to sustain the tempo.
