Late Mrs Mary Anyebe laid to rest at Ogugu

Late Mrs Mary Achele Emmanuel Anyebe (Nee Otuwe) lived a life worthy of emulation and was loved by all of her siblings, relations and loved ones.

This was obvious during her internment and subsequent burial at her home town of Ogugu in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State as Inside Story witnessed the mammoth turnout that witnessed the rites before the burial of the Sixty-nine year old woman of many paths.

At the service of songs that preceded her lying in state at their residence held at the United Evangelical Church, Ogugu-Omanyoku, word-after-word, the virtues of the late mother of many were enumerated.

Speakers included the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja, who is a nephew to the late Amazon.

The Officiating Minister, Reverend John Ugah, supported by Reverends Levi Akoh and Jerry Ejigah; Elder Lazarus Ameh, Evang. Gabriel Agada and Pastor Gerald Ossai; all noted the transience of life and the need for human beings to live lives worthy of emulation and one that would ensure that they made heaven.

They ascribed the huge turn-out to the manner of civility and simplicity with which the deceased lived her life and prayed that she found joy in the world beyond.

The officiating ministers, who called on her children in particular and her relations in general, not to weep over her demise but rejoice for the fact that she lived a worthy life that several people could testify to, urged for prayers and celebration, rather than lamentations.

The son of the deceased, Mr. Eleojo Anyebe described his late mother as not only a mother, but also a friend with whom he had shared several fond memories as she had guided and guarded him through life.

He was emotive as tears trickled down his cheeks throughout the burial, noting that he wished his late mother lived a little longer to eat more from the fruit of her labour, and then stressed his gratitude for having come into the existence through her.

He added that he would miss her, but that he is taking comfort from knowing that she is in the bosom of the Lord until that time when they would meet to remain eternally together.

Mrs Binta Tani is her daughter; she could not control her emotion as she watched the remains of her mother being lowered to mother earth.

She however composed her thoughts in the burial brochure where she stated her sadness in the fact that her late mother had left huge vacuum too large to be filled.

Like her brother, she took solace in the realisation that her mother laid in the bosom of the Lord till eternity. She was quick to add that nobody would miss the deceased than her.

Speaking exclusively to Inside Story following the burial, the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja, himself obviously gripped by the shock of the loss, described his late aunt as one of the kindest women he had met in his life.

He went down memory-lane to describe how as a student, she would make some edible foods for him whenever he was returning to school, and said he had learnt the virtues of simplicity and generosity from late Mrs Anyebe.

The Chief of Staff, who said the death had reminded him of the transience of life, wondered why some people take it as though it is a place they would forever remain in.

While praying for the peaceful repose of the soul of the deceased, he called on public to realise that heaven and hell are real and that they should live a life worthy of emulation.

Other family members who spoke all had beautiful words to say about the deceased and prayed God to grant her eternal rest and the rest of the family members the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
