Nigerian youths warned against jeopardizing their future through electoral violence

Nigerian youths have been told to be vigilant and rational by distancing themselves from any politician that wants to use them as tools for vices such as electoral violence in elections.

This advice was given on Friday at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja by speakers at a summit to promote a violence-free election organised through an initiative of Princess Zahra Mustapha Audu as part of activities to engender a peaceful poll in 2019.

The summit was organized by Presidential Summit Centre in collaboration with Forum of Presidential Candidates in Nigeria.

The event, which drew over twenty Presidential Candidates had in attendance several keynote speakers who advised them to prevail on their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully as they go about canvassing votes for their preferred flag bearers.

Speaking, the Chairman, Forum of Presidential Candidates, Alhaji Shittu Mohammed Kabir described event as a welcome development and applauded the initiator for her efforts at ensuring that candidates standing for elections conduct themselves in a manner befitting of the office they aspire to.

To him, the time to speak to the youths was now because as future leaders, they must be able to guide themselves against any provocation or enticement to engage in any form of destruction – either of life or property.

Other candidates also reacted to the event and praised the initiative of Princess Zahra Mustapha Audu, and called on the youths to emulate her efforts by putting their strength to positive ventures that would bring development to the country.

Organiser of the event, Princess Zahra noted that the summit became expedient in view of the need to remind the youths of the critical role they play towards the success of 2019 election.

The summit was also attended by other Presidential candidates, including Dr Oby Ezekwesili, Mr Tope Fasua, Dr Sadeeq Abba, Mr Dele Babalola, Prince Mustapha Audu among others.
