APPEALS: Kogi Government throws weight behind establishment of Integrated Farm Village

The Kogi State Government has said it will support the establishment of the Integrated Farm Village as Proposed by the state Coordination Office of the Agro Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support Project (APPEALS).

The promise was made during a meeting with the State Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Steering Committee of the APPEALS Project, Chief Edward David Onoja by officials of the Kogi APPEALS project led by the State Project Coordinator, Dr Sanni Abdullahi Ozomata.

He said the state government will ensure that the planned Integrated Farm Village becomes a reality in view of the critical role that APPEALS project is playing in aligning its objectives to the states’ Agricultural Blue print.

He noted that the Integrated Farm Village when realized will help in the implementation of the project’s development objectives of the APPEALS project in the state, particularly in the execution of the Women and Youth Empowerment Programme.

The Deputy Governor in his address lauded the APPEALS team in the state for not succumbing to the norm of allowing beneficiaries misappropriate funds but rather being creative noting that such would be a model for other states to follow. He appreciated the lead resource person, Dr Oyesola Oyebanji for spotlighting the achievements of the state governor and added that the State Government will support the team with necessary logistics such as security, Community Relations Support among others as part of the “Lets Do More” agenda of the state government in meeting with the yearnings and aspiration of the citizens of the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the APPEALS State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sanni Abdullahi Ozomata, explained that the proposal for the Establishment of the Integrated Farm Village by Kogi APPEALS project is to serve as an efficient production support system that will leverage on the economics of scale for the beneficiaries of the Women and Youth Empowerment Programme. Explaining further he said those recently selected and trained were set to receive their grants hence the state Coordination Office of APPEALS project thought it wise to bring on board an innovation that would ensure the sustainability of program.

He noted that the Integrated Farm Village would be a clustering of groups of beneficiaries with similar agribusiness which will enable them gain access to shared usage of basic amenities needed to enhance their productivity and save up funds to channel to other areas that will boost their business.

Similarly, the lead resource person, Dr. Oyesola Oyebanji explained that the Integrated Farm Village as Proposed by the Kogi APPEALS Project was the best solution to ensuring an efficient use of resources by the beneficiaries and advised that such a model be Incorporated into the state’s Agricultural Development Agenda. He commended the state government for the support it has given to the state coordination office in the implementation of the APPEALS project in the state.
