Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja felicitates with Christians in the State on the celebration of this year’s Easter.

This was contained in a Goodwill Message made available to newsmen in Lokoja by his Chief Press Secretary, Promise Emmanuel, on Saturday.

Chief Onoja who described the festivity as a commemoration of the suffering, but most importantly, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, said it has endured for over 2000 years and has continued to inspire generations.

According to him, “the purpose of the CROSS was Redemption through the act of selfless sacrifice. As followers of Christ, we must tow the path of selfless service and sacrificial giving of time, talent and treasures.

“As a State charted on lines of greatness, we also continue to thank the Almighty God for granting us the opportunity to celebrate yet another auspicious event vested on His promise, love and hope for all of us. As we celebrate, I wish to enjoin the Christian Community to rekindle their faith in Christ who overcame persecution, sufferings and displayed endurance, steadfastness and piety.

“It is my utmost believe that Easter offers us the opportunity to reflect on these unconditional factors that Christ had and still has for mankind such that He laid down His life for the remission of our sins. I also believe that we must look deeper unto the cross where He hung, ask for His unending mercy and intensify our prayers for sustainable development of our dear State,” he said.

Chief Onoja thanked God for the favourable rapport his Principal, Governor Yahaya Bello has created with the Christian Community in Kogi State which he says, was a testament of his resolve to build the State on solid grounds of tolerance, respect and rapport.

He counselled Christians in the State to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ who demonstrated perseverance in the face of persecution and charged them not to relent in prayer, love, kindness and sacrificial living.

“May the joy of this Season remain with you and your families today and always. We sing Hallelujah, for He has risen,” he concluded.
