The leadership of a Youth organization from the Kogi Central, under the umbrella of Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) on Saturday, November 14, 2020, paid a courtesy visit on the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Moh’d Jamiu.

The leader of the group Comrade Obiyo Ateiza Aliyu felicitated with the Chief of Staff on Governor Yahaya Bello’s victory at the Supreme Court, stating that the will of the people have prevailed. He also appreciated the governor for the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology in Osara, calling it a major achievement.

He revealed that members of the group are Ebira youths of like minds, who came together to explore peaceful ways of collaborating to develop Ebiraland through massive training for youths and educational schemes like the Ebira Educational Summit which the association has scheduled to hold in December.

Comr. Aliyu who spoke for the group said the reason for their visit is to solicit support on two requests, to seek the Chief of Staff’s support in creating an Ebira Scholarship Foundation to reward indigent students and encourage more interest in education. On the second request, he pleaded with the Chief of Staff to help artisans in Ebiraland take advantage of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Trade Test initiative.

He noted that while most of the artisans did not attend schools, they remain very skilled and the certificate of competence (Trade Test Certificates) will further confirm the qualification level of their working skills.

The Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Moh’d Jamiu in his remarks applauded the decision of the youths of Ebiraland to form a group, not for arms carrying, but to find means of collaborating with government institutions and within themselves to ameliorate the sufferings of the youths in Ebiraland.

For clarification, the Chief of Staff explained to the group that there is no cause for concern as regards how the new Confluence University will be funded, assuring that the government of Governor Yahaya Bello has put in place structures to handle that appropriately.

The Chief of Staff while assuring the group of the needed support for the Ebira Educational Summit, Ebira Scholarship Foundation, and the Trade Tests Certificates for artisans, said his door is open to any genuine group to refocus the mindset of the youths of Ebiraland. He noted that the good morals which Ebiras were hitherto known are fading and unfortunately replaced with drug abuse and other immoral acts that are detrimental to their lives and development of Ebiraland.

“Ebira Youth Congress must try to change the narrative in Ebiraland. We must encourage quality education. It is why I continue to prioritize health and education, with good health you can do all other great things, and with a sound education, you are creating a sustainable plan for the society” he said.

Pharm. Asuku also made it known that he will collaborate with the group to organize a forum where Ebira youths from other parts of the geopolitical zones will come together to form sustainable partnerships for national development. The Chief of Staff encouraged the group to shun every act that could promote disunity but should consistently identify with national development.
