…Says govt. ensured salary payment before festivity despite IGR shortfall

Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu has urged Muslims and other faiths to reflect and practice the values of service, selflessness and charity as they celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Adha

He added that Governor Bello has made sure no Kogi citizen celebrates Eid without their salaries by making sure there was prompt payment of salaries despite the shortfalls in allocations and Internally Generated Revenue IGR.

The COS made this known in his goodwill message made available to the Press on Friday where he felicitated with Muslims on the EID-EL-ADHA celebration.

He noted that although the celebration has been globally tainted by the COVID 19 pandemic, a public health challenge that has resulted in social distancing, he asserted that the visionary and proactive leadership of the Governor prevented Kogi State from feeling the full impact of the COVID 19 virus and the socio-economic hardship that it brought along.

The COS added that Even though these proactive actions by the state government afforded the chance to attend the Eid prayers under strict regulations, it has prevented millions of Muslims from performing one of the five pillars of Islam – Hajj.

He sympathized with the Muslim faithfuls who were unable to perform hajj this year, including thousands of Kogites who were hoping to embark on the pilgrimage while he assured of a victory over the pandemic and a chance to make up for the Hajj missed.

Pharm. Jamiu said the Governor has put in place measures to guarantee everyone’s security in the state during the celebration of this significant event and beyond, adding that the Governor was renowned for his staunch approach in the fight against insecurity.

He said that subsequently, the Kogi state security outfits have made significant success in recent weeks in that regard and the Governor has assured citizens of a hitch-free celebration.

The COS assured that the Governor Bello led administration would continue to preach harmony among the various religious groups in the state expressing the hope that everyone would have been spiritually rejuvenated to continue to discharge respective constitutional roles and responsibilities.

He noted that this Eid celebration offers yet another opportunity to deepen relationship with Allah, promote a life of sacrifice, charity, and love as exemplified by Prophet Mohammad SAW.

He urged all Muslim faithfuls and other faiths to support Governor Yahaya Bello’s vision to build a prosperous state where all Kogi people and residents would realize their dreams, through the government’s various socio-economic growth initiatives.
