As Muslims across the world mark the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir, Wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Mrs Ejura Mercy Onoja has extended her greetings and called for prayers for Nigeria and individual sacrifices for the greater good of humanity.

Mrs Onoja in a statement through her aide, Halimat Isah said there was need to celebrate the season in love and fear of Allah as instructed in the teachings of Islam in the areas of brotherliness, piousness, peaceful coexistence as well as tolerance for one another.

“I urge Nigerians to unite in prayers, patience and understanding in this period of Eid-el-Kabir celebration. I also appeal to our leaders at all levels of Government to not only be God fearing, but be just, sincere and responsible in discharging their duties, reaching, showing compassion and love to their immediate constituents.”

Wife of the Deputy Governor equally urged the Muslim faithful to use the period to reflect more spiritually and rejuvenate themselves accordingly with the cardinal teachings of Allah and almsgiving to the have-nots in their midst.

She encouraged the Muslim ummah not to allow the current global challenge the world is confronted as a result of COVID-19 dampen the importance and spiritual essence of Eid-El-Kabir but to be unfazed, up and doing and alive to their obligations.

“The world is going through difficult times, hence the need for sustained, fervent prayers to God to heal the world, for stability and prosperity to return,” it added.

While expressing hope that the world would soon overcome all it was faced with, she however, appealed to the government to put in place palliative measures that would alleviate the hardship being experienced by some citizens.

“Let’s eschew bitterness, disagreements and hatred as we celebrate today and continue to live in love and harmony with one and another. Let the celebration which is a period of sacrifice and a reflection on the significance of the spiritual act of Holy Prophet Ibrahim be celebrated as such.

Mrs Onoja commended the efforts of the state government in the area of security in combating criminal activities and urge for sustained onslaught.
