Election victory: Onoja arrives Olamaboro amidst cheers

Few hours after receiving the certificate of return from INEC, the Deputy Governor-elect of in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja on Thursday arrived his home town Ogugu, Olamaboro local government, amidst a delightful frenzy, and a heroic welcome by his people.

The mammoth crowd chanting popular praise songs and the usual 4+4 slowed down the motorcade of the Deputy Governor from the popular Ikeje Junction all the way to Ogugu.

While addressing the joyous crowd, the Deputy Governor thanked the people for their support and for standing by him against all odds.

He said the votes recorded by the APC in Olamaboro and other local government areas in Kogi East was a testimony to the fact that the people acknowledge and appreciate the good works of the governor in the area.

He also enjoined the people to ignore those pushing the falsehood that Ebiras defeated the Igalas in the election, saying that the election was between political parties and not ethnic groups.

“we have Igalas in APC just as they have Ebiras in PDP. The Igalas, Okuns and Ebiras alongside other tribes came together under the APC to defeat the PDP.

“It was not a Tribal War but a party tussle between Political Parties & APC, that had majority Igala people in it, pulled through to victory. Tell them to stop deceiving our people that Igala people have lost. We won!

The Deputy Governor praised the people for seeing through the deceit of the PDP and for providing to the whole world that Igalas are a people of honor who repay good with good.

He urged the people to remain steadfast in their support for the government of Yahaya Bello, promising that Kogi East will witness more development in their second tenure.

He later presented the certificate of return to the people and dedicated it to all his supporters, especially the youths who stood on the side of truth and voted for the APC.
