First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Commissions Food Bank, Other Projects in Kogi, Praises Governor Ododo

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a number of strategic projects in Kogi State aimed at enhancing food security, healthcare delivery and social welfare, describing the initiatives as significant milestones in the collective effort to improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

The projects commissioned during her official working visit to the state include the National Community Food Bank Project for the North Central Region, the Kogi State Treasury House, the Kogi State Health Insurance House and the Kogi State First Lady Empowerment Scheme.

Speaking during the event in Lokoja, Senator Tinubu reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to addressing critical social challenges through programmes that prioritize food security, accessible healthcare and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.

As part of her engagements in the state, the First Lady met with members of the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers at the Government House, where she commended the royal fathers for their support for both the Federal Government and the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

She called on traditional institutions to intensify advocacy on proper nutrition and healthy feeding practices within their communities, noting that community participation is crucial to tackling malnutrition and achieving sustainable food security across the country.

Senator Tinubu also praised Governor Ododo for implementing people-focused policies and programmes that have strengthened healthcare delivery, food security and social protection initiatives in Kogi State.

While commissioning the Kogi State Health Insurance House, the First Lady described quality healthcare, particularly maternal and child healthcare, as a central pillar of the Renewed Hope Initiative. She commended the Honourable Minister of Health for the reforms being implemented in the health sector and pledged continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to improve healthcare outcomes for Nigerians.

Highlighting the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Tinubu disclosed that more than ₦3 billion has been invested in empowerment programmes across the country, benefiting women, traders, artisans and other vulnerable groups. She noted that several state First Ladies have also complemented the initiative through additional interventions targeted at beneficiaries in their states.

The First Lady further applauded the Kogi State Government for establishing a food bank for vulnerable residents, describing the initiative as a practical intervention that will help reduce hunger, improve access to food and strengthen the state’s social support system.

She also acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigeria’s security agencies in the fight against insecurity and expressed gratitude over the safe rescue of recently abducted victims, saying the development underscores the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

The newly commissioned projects are expected to boost public service delivery, expand access to quality healthcare, strengthen food security mechanisms and improve the socio-economic well-being of residents of Kogi State, in line with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
