Gov Bello commissions 19 rural projects in Kogi, says rural communities key to dev’t

Water, electricity, primary healthcare form some of the basic needs of the people in rural communities of Nigeria, Kogi State inclusive, and in an environment where politicians continue to fail in their premises to the electorates, especially those at the grassroots, the Governor Yahaya Bello administration has fulfilled yet another of its campaign promises to 14 communities with 19 projects executed and inaugurated for use by the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja said his administration was concerned about rural communities because of the role they play in overall development indices.

He noted that his government would continue to execute projects that would have direct impact on the lives of the people, stressing that he has particular interest in rural areas because it would encourage the people to be more productive.

Thus, from Agbeji Ojimeli in Dekina Local Government Area to Ade, Emonyoku, Efachipu – Imane, Efekpe – Imane, Ofa – Okpo, Emegaba, Emonyoku, Emakpe – Iyagu, Ileke Emonoja, Odidoko, Anyigba Ogugu communities, Chief Onoja commissioned rural water, electricity, primary healthcare facilities, town halls, all provided by the State government.

Eight of the projects commissioned were executed by the state Community and Social Development Agency in conjunction with the communities.

The Governor said his administration was one that fulfils promises, adding that the present government was ready to differentiate itself from what hitherto obtained because of his unique vision for the state.

While enjoining the people to make good use of the projects and protect public amenities against vandalism, the Governor said it was in the hands of the youths and that it would serve them better if they took care of it as they would their personal belongings.

Digressing to talk about politics, the Deputy Governor said Governor Yahaya Bello was going to make an excellent President in the next dispensation, and expressed optimism that the state would be adequately represented in the Aso Villa in 2023.

He enjoined the people to continue to support the ruling APC because it is a party that delivers, adding that next Saturday’s Local Government Polls was an opportunity for the people to consolidate their support for the party.

He urged them to support the candidature of Hon Friday Adejoh and his running mate and other councillorship candidates, and stressed the need for the people of the state to replicate same in the election.

In their separate addresses, representatives of the communities all applauded the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello for being rural – friendly and for considering them in the scheme of things and promised to continue to support him and even back a call for him to serve as Nigeria’s President.

Dignitaries at the occasion include the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon Yunisa Olofu; the immediate past Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Rosemary Osinkoya; the APC Chairmanship Candidate for Olamaboro Local Government Area, Hon Friday Adejoh and other dignitaries.
