Gov. Bello swears in Justice Majebi as Kogi Acting CJ

…says administration has ensured merit in CJs appointment

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has on Monday sworn in Justice Josiah Joe Majebi as the new Acting Chief Judge of the state.

The memorable event which held at the Glasshouse of Government House Lokoja witnessed the administering of oaths of office for the Ag CJ, following the retirement of the former Chief Judge, Justice Richard Olurunfemi.

Gov. Bello in his speech reiterated his stands on equality and merit stressing that this was the 5th successive Chief Judge appointed during administration.

He further explained that the selection of CJs in his administration has strictly being based on merit emphasising that only the next in line irrespective of tribe or religion emerges and that the selection of Justice Majebi was no different.

Gov Bello explained that his government has continued working to fill the gaps and bring about synergy between the executive, the legislative and the judicial arms of government.

He said “We will try to strengthen our judiciary system to promote unity, oneness, and progress.”

He urged the acting Chief Judge to ensure the unity of the judiciary, interpret the rule of law while charging other judges to support him in ensuring that the arm of government was taken to greater heights.

In his vote of thanks, Justice Majebi thanked the Governor for finding him worthy to be appointed as acting Chief
Justice of the State while promising to discharge his duties to the best of his abilities.

Justice Majebi also stated that his road map would be the strengthening of Judicial integrity by ensuring a corrupt free Kogi state judicial arm while he intimated the governor of his plan to inaugurate a council of Judges that would alongside himself take critical decisions.
