Governor Bello attends burial of late father of Fmr. Senator, Attai Aidoko

…urge citizens to emulate Late Ali Okwoli’s good traits, unite against divisive forces.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Saturday attended the burial ceremony of the father of former Kogi East senator, Attai Aidoko, Late Chief Ali Okwoli which held at Ugbamaka Igah in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Bello who described the late foremost politician as a man who lived a fulfilled life in all spheres urged the people to emulate the good traits of Late Ali Okwoli which has distinguished him as a man worthy of celebration both in life and death.

Governor Bello who attested that Olamaboro and by extension Igala land always feel like home told the people to eschew differences which has always been the clog in the wheel of progress and to embrace unity which can help to achieve much more for the state and its people.

The governor said “We are all citizens of Kogi state and we are one, there is no difference between any tribe in the state. God has blessed us with several natural, mineral and human resources, but if we allow mundane issues to divide us, we will not benefit and we will watch outsiders continue to take away the state’s and its people’s common patrimony”.

He mentioned that under his leadership and with a unity of purpose he has contended with intruders whose intention was to selfishly exploit the state, adding that with a continuity government Kogi would remain United against such invaders intending to continue to hijack its resources stressing that it is high time that the people duly enjoy what God has blessed the state with.

He said that Chief Ali Okwoli lived a very good life, raised good children with whom he shares very close relationship with. The governor noted that the family apart from its resounding respect for culture, they equally embraced the modern religion and do not discriminate which remained a strong legacy of unity left behind by the late chief Okwoli.

Earlier in his remarks, the host and Former Senator Attai Aidoko thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate the passing of his late father while he expressed that governor Bello’s attendance has not only honoured his late father, the family but the entire Olamaboro Local Government Area.

He said that his father’s passing has shown how wealthy he was in life and death owing to the calibre of people who have graced the occasion while assuring the governor and the ruling All Progressives Congress of his loyalty. The Senator also promised that the gesture shown to his family will be returned in great measures at the right time.

Representing the All Progressive Congress gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, his Deputy governorship candidate, Salifu Joel Oyibo extended condolences to the family of the late Chief Ali Okwoli, his immediate community and the entire Olamaboro Local Government.

He noted that governor Bello’s physical presence at the occasion was a remarkable show of love for the Igala nation stating that the people and particularly the governor’s lieutenant were ready to reciprocate by ensuring victory at the polls in the coming election.

Giving his goodwill message, the Ejeh of Olamaboro and chairman council of chiefs, Olamaboro Local Government Traditional council, HRH. Simeon Ujah said the people of Olamaboro were delighted to host the governor in such an historic visit to celebrate the fruitful life well spent of the late revered politician, chief and community leader. He alluded that It would be difficult to have his replacement in igala land owing to his great contribution to the region and state at large.
