Hon Dan'Asabe hands over to Lokoja DLG amid tears of joy »

It was a moment capable of melting hearts at the Lokoja Local Government Secretariat this afternoon of Thursday when the immediate past administrator, Hon Muhammed Dan’Asabe handed over the reign of the council to the Director of Local Government (DLG), Hajiya Fatima Abubakar.

The handing over ceremony, though low key, was also colourful as supporters and aides of the administrator and other heads of the Local Government Area witnessed the event.

Speaking, Hon Dan’Asabe admitted there is time for everything under the sun and that the end of his tenure had come and thanked God for the success he recorded. He expressed optimism that he would return to lead the council for a fresh term again.

He said he was leaving the council with his head held high given the level of impact he has made within the period he held office despite the resources available to him and thanked those who stood by him during his time.

The immediate past administrator expressed gratitude to the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for giving him the opportunity to serve, adding that the current government was for the poor masses a proof of which brought him into the saddle.

He used the opportunity to apologize to those whom he had wronged during his time in office, saying he did not wrong anyone on purpose and that whatever he did was for the progress and development of Lokoja Local Government Area.

While congratulating Hon Dan’Asabe for a successful tenure, the Chairman of the council’s Union of Local Government Employees (NuLGE), Comrade Ibrahim Bala applauded him for creating the enabling environment for the staff of the council to excel.

He urged him not to close his doors on the council as they may need to consult with him from time to time as they do with other past leaders of the council before him for the smooth running of the area.

That position was further echoed by the acting head who took over from the out-gone administrator, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar who thanked him for his style of leadership and successful tenure.

She gave credit of all the successes recorded in his tenure to the Heads of Departments in the Local Government whom she said played sterling roles for smooth governance in the Local Government.
