IG Muhammed Adamu committed to adequate security in Nigeria – Kogi CP

Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari has explained that the Nigeria Police under the leadership of Acting IG Muhammed Adamu is committed to ensuring adequate internal security of lives and properties in the country.

He made this remark on Monday in Lokoja while welcoming the new Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone eight, Moses Jitoboh to the command.

The event, which coincided with the launch of the new special operation tagged Operation Puff Adder saw Mr Busari saying that IG Adamu was disturbed by the upsurge of activities of armed bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers, social miscreants and hoodlums in some States of the Federation.

The development, the commissioner said prompted the launch of the special operation with the primary aim of tackling this menace fiercely.

The Commissioner noted that the Special Squad that have been deployed comprised of Units from the Police Mobile Force, Counter terrorism, IGP-Special Tactical Squad, Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and IGP- Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

He said the major objective of the operation among others was to appreciate the worrisome crime situation in the States and also design template to contain same, identify criminal syndicates, their leaders, foot soldiers and sponsors with a view to arresting them with operational precision.

Mr Busari added that the squad was also mandated to carry out raids on criminals’ houses, hideouts, rendezvous so as to arrest them and recover arms, ammunition with the purpose of restoring the confidence of the people in the security operatives.

The police commissioner similarly narrated that the operation which had since commenced with results involved the massive deployment of well-trained, equipped and motivated operatives to areas like the Lokoja-Okene highway, Lokoja-Obajana, Lokoja-Ajaokuta, Obajana-Kabba, Okene-Auchi, Bagana – Ogba in Omala Local Government and other volatile areas in the state.

He however used the opportunity to appeal to stakeholders and other progress partners of the force  who would come in contact with the deployed operatives to give support, show understanding all in the interest of public safety.
