Kogi Information Commissioner Advocates Unity as Kogi East Honours Deputy Governor
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has called on citizens of the state to uphold peace, unity, and mutual tolerance, irrespective of religious, ethnic, or political affiliations.
Fanwo made the appeal in Ejule during a grand reception organised in honour of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Joel Salifu Oyibo.
Addressing attendees at the event, the Commissioner urged Kogites to shun actions and sentiments capable of creating division within the state, stressing the importance of peaceful co-existence and collective progress.
He congratulated the Deputy Governor on the warm reception accorded him by the people, describing him as a humble and dedicated public servant whose loyalty, competence, and commitment to duty have continued to strengthen the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.



Fanwo noted that Governor Ododo shares a cordial working relationship with Comrade Oyibo and has immense confidence in his leadership abilities and contributions to governance.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo and the immediate past Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, for the opportunity to serve the people of Kogi State.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Governor in delivering impactful and people-oriented governance across the state.
Comrade Oyibo assured the people of Ofu Local Government Area and Kogi State at large of his continued humility, loyalty, and dedication to public service. He stated that the present administration has initiated several developmental projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens and bringing governance closer to the grassroots.
The Deputy Governor also charged youths to reject criminal activities and embrace hard work, unity, and peaceful coexistence in the interest of sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, the Eje Ofu and Chairman of the Ofu Local Government Traditional Council, Akwu Obaje, commended Governor Ododo for ongoing developmental projects across the state.
The royal father appreciated the Governor for the confidence reposed in Comrade Oyinbo and for the administration’s respect for traditional institutions. He assured the government of the continued support of traditional rulers in promoting peace, unity, and development within their communities.
He further pledged to continue encouraging young people to embrace education, hard work, and peaceful coexistence, expressing confidence in the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
Akwu Obaje described the Deputy Governor as calm, respectful, accessible, and committed, while urging him to remain loyal, humble, patient, and supportive of Governor Ododo’s administration.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area, Muhammad Lawal, reaffirmed the support of the people of the council area for the Ododo administration, commending the government’s developmental efforts across the state.
A major highlight of the reception was the defection of several members of the SDP, PDP, and other political parties in Ofu Local Government Area to the ruling All Progressives Congress, with reports indicating that multiple political structures were collapsed into the party.
