Ofu People Honour Kogi’ Deputy Gov, Pledge Support For Ododo’s Govt
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, on Saturday received a grand reception organized in his honour by the Ofu Local Government Traditional Council and sons and daughters of Ofu Local Government Area in Ejule.
The event brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, religious leaders, party supporters, youths, women groups, and many people from within and outside the local government.
Speaking at the event, the Ejeh Ofu and Chairman of the Ofu Traditional Council, His Royal Highness Alhaji Akwu Obaje, said the people decided to honour the Deputy Governor because of his humility, loyalty, and commitment to serving the people.

The royal father praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for carrying traditional rulers along and for bringing development closer to the grassroots.
He also prayed for God to continue to lift the Deputy Governor higher in his political journey and advised him to remain loyal, humble, and patient in service.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ofu Local Government Area, Hon. Mohammed Lawal Musa, commended the Deputy Governor for his support and loyalty for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that his conduct in office has continued to make the people of Ofu proud.
He assured the Deputy Governor of the continued support and loyalty of the local government to the present administration in Kogi State.
Similarly, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Evangelist Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described the Deputy Governor as a unifier and bridge-builder whose influence has continued to bring people from different walks of life together in celebration of his leadership and personality.
He noted that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has great confidence in the Deputy Governor, urging the people to avoid anything capable of causing division among the people of the state. According to him, Kogi remains one united people irrespective of tribe, religion, or political differences.
In his response, the Deputy Governor thanked the traditional council and the entire people of Ofu Local Government for the honour done to him, describing it as a sign of unity and love among the people.
Comrade Joel Salifu also thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for giving him the opportunity to serve the state, while appreciating former Governor Yahaya Bello for believing in him and supporting his political journey.
The Deputy Governor said despite the short time the present administration has spent in office, many projects have already started across the state.
According to him, some roads in Ofu Local Government have already been earmarked and measured on the instruction of Governor Ododo and would soon receive attention.
He also revealed that transformers have been provided for some communities between last year and now to improve electricity supply, and many schools in Ofu Local Government are currently being remodeled, while more would soon benefit following the flag-off already done by the Governor.
Comrade Joel Salifu called on the people of Ofu Local Government to continue supporting Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging them to give massive support to the party during the 2027 general elections.
He warned the people not to allow themselves to be deceived by politicians who only come home during election periods with promises they may not fulfill.
The Deputy Governor also advised youths to stay away from kidnapping, cultism, and other criminal activities, stressing that the government would not spare anyone involved in crime, no matter their connection to people in power.
The event featured cultural displays, by Eke Madam, UmaOnu, and masquerades, goodwill messages, prayers, and presentations by different groups and stakeholders from across Ofu Local Government Area.
