Kogi science varsity inches close to reality as legislature passes bill
Kogi State House of Assembly has passed a bill for the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara into law.
The passage of the bill followed the clause – by – clause consideration of the bill at the Committee of the whole House.
The bill which sought to provide a legal framework for the establishment of the University when assented to by Governor Yahaya Bello will bring education closer to rural dwellers.
It will also ensure the judicious utilization of the mineral resources of the State for improved research and job creation.
Similarly, three other bills have been passed into law.
They are; that of a law establishing Magistrates Courts and the appointment of Magistrates and other matters connected therewith as well as that establishing Reference Hospital Okene.
In the same vein, a bill for a law on Agricultural Produce within Kogi State which is aimed at boosting revenue generation of the state has been returned to the Ministry of Agriculture for Redrafting.
The Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole said the law will give legal backings to activities of government and improved well-being of the people.
