Kogi State Governor’s aide on students matters inaugurates new Kogi NANS/JCC leadership

The new leadership that will pilot the affairs of the Kogi State Chapter National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) across all campuses of higher institutions within the state referred to as Joint Campus Committee (JCC) has been inaugurated.

The executive was inaugurated today, Wednesday, at the Youth House in Lokoja by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bello on Student Matters, Comrade Omonu Joshua.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Joshua urged the student leaders to see their new positions as a responsibility and trust bestowed on them by fellow students, and urged them to discharge their duties with fairness and justice.

He urged them to desist from acts capable of distributing public peace in line with the preaching of the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, whom he said has shown exemplary leadership and youth inclusion in key decisions in the state.

The SSA, who enjoined the students to mobilise their peers in support of the Governor who has done so much for education and the welfare of youths of the state, stressed that the return of the Governor was in the interest of growth, development and youth inclusiveness.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly inaugurated executive, the chairman, Comrade Otaru Andah Abdulhakim commended the effort of the immediate past executive for uplifting the image of the association, adding that their passion for students gave rise to a peaceful transition.

On his part, the chairman of the state chapter National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Israel Alonge enjoined the students to shun all acts capable of affecting prevailing peace on their various campuses, and urged them to go about their activities with caution.

He further promised that his leadership would not condone any form of intimidation as the welfare of students was part of his top priorities, and pledged to sustain some of the programmes of his predecessor.

Having expressed gratitude to other stakeholders, the new Chairman highlighted some of the items on his agenda during his reign to include mobilization of Students towards the forthcoming gubernatorial election to ensure the return to office of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for another term.

He was quick to also applaud the present administration for its pragmatism in involving the youth in piloting the affairs of the state.

Other stakeholders who spoke at the occasion also urged the youths not to allow themselves to be used as agents of instability, but called on them to sustain the struggle for better welfare for students and improved academic environment.

Representatives from Federal University Lokoja; Federal Polytechnic Idah; Federal College of Education, Okene; Kogi State University, Ayingba; Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja; Kogi State College of Education,Ankpa; College of Health Technical Idah; College of Nursing and Midwifery Obangede; College of Education Technical, Kabba; and College of Agriculture, Kabba former the Joint Campus Committee that culminated in the body.

Aside Comrade Abdulhakim, the new executive of the body also include; James Sunday (Vice Chairman); Atokolo Haruna Onalo (Secretary); Momoh Sani Salami (Assistant Secretary General); and Shegun Legofi (Public Relations Officer).

Others are Saidu Hamza Jibrin (Financial Secretary); Aisha Ahmed (Treasurer); Afolayan Samuel (Director of Sport); Abdullahi Nurudeen (Director of Social); Adejo Akoji Jacob (Director of Welfare); and Sunday Usman (Director of Transport and Exchange).

The rest are Abdulmumuni Musa Danladi (Director of Action and Mobilization); Aisha Abdullahi (Director of Gender); Aminu Abdul (Director of Special Duty); Abdulsalam Muhammad Salis (Organising Secretary); and Abate Enesi (Chief of Staff).
