LG Polls: Pharm. Asuku Hosts Adavi APC stakeholders, sues for peace »

The Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Jamiu has called on the aspirants and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adavi Local Government Area to shun infighting, violence and embrace peace for the party and local government to make progress.

Pharm. Asuku made the call while addressing aspirants, chieftains, and stakeholders of the party in a meeting in Lokoja on Tuesday.

The Chief of Staff complained to the aspirants that he was worried that the infighting has created factions which have caused unnecessary unrest in the local government.

It was reported that some aggrieved members of the party in Adavi LGA had earlier called for the zoning arrangement in the local government to be reinstated, the protest however led to unrest, which the timely intervention of the Chief of Staff restored peace.

Pharmacist Asuku said it was worrisome to note that chieftains of the party in Adavi LGA have been working at cross purposes and pitted against one another in the past four years, adding that he was more disappointed to learn that despite the effort of Governor Yahaya Bello to find a lasting solution to the leadership problem in Adavi LG, issues like these were still rearing its ugly head.

“When His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello assumed office in 2016, he respected the zoning arrangement by appointing the candidate selected by Adavi stakeholders, who was later removed due to complaints and when the people can’t agree on a solution, a solution was offered to them by the Governor.

“The time has come for us to respect and trust in the wisdom of the Governor, so we can move forward,” he said.

He said circumstances such as this has affected the fortunes of Adavi LGA in the state.

He maintained that Gov. Yahaya Bello always have a soft spot for Adavi LGA, a place he selected most of his appointees in his first tenure, supported Sen. Yakubu Oseni who is also from Adavi to occupy the highest elective position in Kogi Central, the establishment of the Confluence University in Osara, and many more.

He stated that the infighting between the people of Adavi local government is a disrespect to the Governor who held them in high esteem.

Pharm. Asuku advised the aspirants and all aggrieved members to sheath their swords, call their people in order to rub minds on how to move the local government forward while urging them to be tolerant, and embrace peace. He that it is better for the aspirants and aggrieved parties to put whatever differences they have behind and emulate other local governments in Kogi State that have rallied and submitted to the Governor’s decisions.

The Chief of Staff assured them that Governor is a man who listens to his people, and they should table their complaints through the appropriate channels rather than resort to destruction of properties. He tasked the aspirants and all other stakeholders in harmonizing Adavi LGA for prosperity, long-lasting peace, and development.

The Hon. Commissioner For Works And Housing, and The Leader of Kogi Central Appointees, Hon.Engr. Dr. Abubakar Saddiq Ohere who was at the meeting called for a peaceful resolution and advised them to follow the decisions of the Governor who is the leader of the party in the state before registering their complaints.

He added that there is a need for frequent communication and interaction between organs of the party and stakeholders in order to move forward.

The aspirants appreciated the Chief of Staff for his timely intervention, sincere approach, and his dedication to maintaining peace in Kogi Central. They also extended their appreciation to Engr. Ohere and Hon. Abdulmumuni Danga. They appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for putting the interest of the people of Adavi at heart.
