Mahmoud Bala Alfa Joins Ododo to Receive Shettima in Kogi »

Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa on Tuesday joined Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to receive Vice President Kashim Shettima during his official visit to the state for the commissioning of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.

The college, established by the Federal Government through the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), is designed to train young Nigerians in renewable energy technologies and prepare them for careers in the clean energy sector.

Alfa was among government officials, traditional rulers, development partners and other stakeholders who welcomed the Vice President during the visit.

Speaking after the event, Alfa described the commissioning of the college as a significant investment in Nigeria’s future, stressing the importance of equipping young people with relevant knowledge and practical skills.

He said sustainable economic growth would depend largely on the ability of the country to prepare its young population for opportunities in a rapidly changing global economy.

According to him, renewable energy has become one of the world’s fastest-growing industries, making investment in institutions that develop expertise in the sector increasingly important for Nigeria.

Alfa said the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College at CUSTECH, Osara, was not only beneficial to Kogi State but would also contribute to the development of a skilled workforce capable of supporting Nigeria’s energy transition and long-term development.

He also noted that the project further strengthens Kogi State’s emerging profile in science, technology, research and innovation.

The commissioning, he added, reflects efforts by the Federal Government to expand opportunities for young Nigerians through education, technical training and sustainable development.

Alfa commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Energy Commission of Nigeria for supporting initiatives aimed at developing young Nigerians and strengthening the country’s economic prospects.
