Maulud 2020: Gov Bello charges Muslims on peace, love

The Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (S.A.W) espoused peace and love and always wants all his followers to do the same wherever they find themselves and that is the essence of Maulud – el – Nabiyyi Celebration.

This was the message of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in his message to this year’s Kogi State Maulud Celebration held on Wednesday night to early Thursday morning in Lokoja.

The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Solid Mineral and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu, further charged Muslims to allow the virtues of the Prophet guide them in all their conducts.

He said beyond the merriment that herald the celebration, clerics should preach the need for unity, peaceful coexistence, egalitarianism and tranquility among the people at all times.

Governor Bello stressed that it was only in an atmosphere of peace that development could thrive and applauded the people of the state for their unique disposition of tolerance and respect for other beliefs.

He stated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that development touched all parts of the state, adding that among his administration’s objectives is to see to unity among citizens of Kogi state.

The Governor urged Muslim scholars and teachers to continue to discourage faithful from all acts that are inimical to societal security and development as enshrined in the teachings of Islam and the message of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
