…as institution opens automobile workshop to serve public needs

The Nigeria Board for Technical Education (NBTE) have granted full accreditation to all the programmes offered by the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology, Rector Williams Charles Oluwatoyin have confirmed.

Speaking to press men during a briefing on Monday, the Rector announced that the regulatory body have given full accreditation to all its programmes including NID Computer Software Engineering, NID Welding and Fabrication, NID Network and system security, NID Electrical/Electronic Engineering and NVC Automotive Mechatronics with effect from January 2024.

In the same vein the Rector also announced the opening of NKFI Automobile workshop to the use of members of the general publics as a service stations to serve their automobiles. He said that although services rendered would come at a cost, they should be rest assured that it would be discounted.

“members of the public are guaranteed of top notch services as we have arrays of internationally trained professionals and equipments that would guarantee your automobiles receiving the best of care” he added.

Narrating the accreditation journey, the Rector recalled that, when he resumed as the Rector of the institution, one of his vocal area was to ensure that he achieved a full accreditation of all of the institution’s courses in all the departments.

He said “I was in shock upon resumption to discover that the institute had not attained full accreditation even after over eight years of establishment. This situation had impeded the growth of the institution and was totally displeasing, hence we set out modalities to resolve this quagmire”.

“You would also recall that between the 19th – 21st of December 2023, the delegation from the Nigeria Board forTechnical Education were at our institution. While the visitation was a reflection of hard work and commitment to birthing tangible changes under my Rectorship, we were however sceptical about the outcome, even though we worked hard and ensured our house were put in order to present our courses for accreditation” he confessed.

“While I take this moment to reflect deeply on our journey, I want to extend deep gratitude to God almighty for making this a reality. I want to specially thank the Kogi state government and more specifically the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello who showed continued interest in Education under which our institution benefitted maximally from his excellency’s foresight and good gestures; This accreditation would never have been possible without his intervention. My deep and sincere appreciation goes similarly to every stakeholder within the state government who played one pivotal role or the other while we journeyed through the jungles of uncertainty. We also thank our partners, KOICA for their commitment and support in their own best way, the Agency have shown steadfastness towards the growth of our institution. I also extend gratitude to the Governing Council, Academic Board, Management, staff and students of our institution for the cooperation, dedication and commitment”.

He mentioned that the institution under his leadership remain committed to raising the bar of academic excellence, fostering the actualisation of our mission and vision as well as its keen interest to emerge as a globally reputable and competitive institute of vocational and technical learning. The Rector added that they strongly remained unwavering and Everly committed to ensuring that NKFI nip in the very bud issues of unemployment, through plans to produce highly employable and skilled professionals.

While the Rector congratulated the newly inaugurated governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo over their successful inauguration and a smooth transition, he mentioned that under his consolidation government, the governor has made a commitment to continue in the footprint of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and in fact build on the solidly laid foundation in every sectors particularly in the education sector which is of great interest to us.

As an institution, we are committed to keying into the programs, plans and initiatives that are targeted towards empowering the youths, he assured.

He also reiterate NKFI’s strategic positioning as a partner in progress with the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to deliver on their mandate to the youth demography most especially in the area of human capital development, job creation, fostering information and Communication Technology and eradication of crimes and criminality.

He however called on the general public to visit the automobile service station which is strategically located for easy access along Felele express road, in front of Kogi state polytechnic, Lokoja while he further urged motorist transiting inter-state to take advantage of the available services.
