NYCN Coordinators’ Forum condemns attack on Youth House by NAKOSS, calls for caution

Kogi State Forum of Coordinators of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has described as distasteful, the attack on the headquarters of the NYCN, allegedly carried out by people believed to be members of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS).

A statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Muhammed Bako Clerk called on those involved to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign.

The forum noted that it was dismayed by the decision of those concerned to toe the path of violence instead of exploring peaceful means and said it would wade in to ensure peace reigned.

While calling on the state government to also wade into the matter and bring the situation to an amicable resolution, the forum said it would not rest until it sees to the end of the matter for the progress of Kogi youths.

The forum urged those concerned on the matter to allow the steps being taken by those concerned to bring the situation to an end without further breach of peace.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the attack, a television set belonging to the youth house and a phone belonging to a customer at the Youth House Canteen at the time of the attack are said to be missing and suspect that the items were stolen by the NAKOSS group that carried out the attack.

In another development, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Idris Musa who was at the Youth House swiftly reacted to the matter said he would get to the bottom of the issue, stressing that Governor Yahaya Bello would not tolerate any breakdown of law order as youths remain the cornerstone of the current administration.
